Welcome
ABOUT ROD SIDLEY ARCHITECTS
Since 1993, my office in downtown Wyoming, Ohio has specialized in
distinctive residential additions and remodeling projects. Explore
this site and you will see that we also design new homes, selected
commercial buildings and other interesting projects.
We
are a small office consisting of Architect Rod
Sidley and two registered
Architects. We have intentionally stayed small to provide personalized
and individual service to each client. We often supplement our computer
generated plans with details and interior elevations drafted with
pencils by hand, a hybrid of practicing architecture the way that
it evolved over the centuries and recognizing the technology of today.
This approach allows me to give each project the unique attention
that it deserves. Every project is the sum of hundreds of details,
large and small, and we practice our belief that there is no insignificant
decision when it comes to building.
Located
in the Cincinnati suburb of Wyoming, Ohio, we have had the opportunity
to design over 150 addition and remodeling projects within Wyoming
including several local businesses. For a sample, visit Before and
After, which will quickly demonstrate that we have no stock solutions.
We provide a unique and personalized approach to every project. The
completed construction is an original synthesis of the clients (with
their goals, dreams, desires and budget), the site (with its orientation
& views and relationships to the street and neighboring properties),
the existing building (with its characteristics and features, good
and bad), and the Architect who is the creative and synthesizing
force, acting as editor, creator and conductor.
I
offer complete Architectural Services and follow your project to
completion. Our extensive and detailed drawings specify exactly what
you want to have constructed including materials, details and finishes,
code compliance and structural details. We have an extensive network
of contractors, craftsmen and suppliers and we coordinate the process
of bidding and contract negotiation to pair your project with the
appropriate general contractor. During construction I am constantly
fine tuning our design. I make regular site visits to monitor quality
and progress, answer questions, coordinate changes and approve payments.
In short, I do everything that I possibly can to make your project
a success.
Contact me if you have any questions or want to make an appointment to meet and discuss your project. Explore this site to see photos of completed projects and visit my office to see how we work. I am excited to talk with you and will make a complimentary visit to your home to discuss your ideas and goals to offer my insight into their cost and feasibility.
Bulletin on the Economy
The economy is bad and many of us are experiencing a period of uncertainty. Still, many building and remodeling projects are continuing or in the planning stages. The scale of projects is decreasing and we are finding that many of our clients are contemplating more modest projects with increasing "Green" objectives. Adequate planning with complete and accurate drawings and specifications for these projects is as important to getting the most value and satisfaction as it is with larger projects.
Where in the past an addition might have been the answer, we now look for creative and satisfying solutions by reconfiguring existing spaces. Most of our homes were built in a time when family life was different than today. Or there might be changes to health or mobility requiring the building to adapt. To get the most out of your houses and to make them work for your generation, we can look at the existing spaces and rearrange them to fit today's needs.
The need to scale back on your building ambitions should not be accompanied by denying yourself the benefits of professional planning or a compromise relative to the effect on energy consumption or the environment. We often develop ideas that our clients had yet to dream of. Accurate drawings remove the uncertainties of the budget and the construction process allowing you to continue your professional lives while changing your home to enhance day-to-day life.
If you are thinking at all of making changes to your home, please contact us and I am happy to visit to discuss the possibilities. Regardless of the scale of the project, we maintain the same commitment to great construction experiences and client satisfaction while being responsible stewards of the environment.

Julie
Woodside and her husband, Frank, enlisted the help of Rod Sidley
Architects and Molly Johnson, Classic Hill Ltd. to transform their
kitchen into a masterpiece of classic charm and warm beauty. The
Woodsides know both talents well from a previous renovation project,
and the couple trusts them completely. "Rod knows my tastes,
and Molly knows my style," Julie explains.
"I'm a warm, comfortable, cozy person. I like the real, lived-in
look."
